“NIP (NRETP Incubator Programme)’’ is a national level initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots level women-owned or women-led enterprises and fostering sustainable livelihood opportunities. The program is implemented under the National Rural Economic Transformation Project executed by IIM Calcutta Innovation Park in association with West Bengal State Rural Livelihood Mission.

Program Benefits

Who Can Apply

  • Enterprises owned by SHG members or SHG member households or close relatives of SHG members. 
  • Registered large enterprises or Group enterprises or Individual enterprises.
  • Enterprises in manufacturing and services preferred. 

Enterprises that will NOT be eligible:

  • Agriculture and primary production/aggregation activities.
  • Backyard activities (like backyard poultry, pre-preparation activities of weaving like warping, bobbin winding etc.)
  • Trading / retail enterprises.
  • Enterprises are not compliant with minimum health and safety standards.
  • Enterprises are not compliant with environmental safeguards.
  • Enterprises operated by the project staff.

In West Bengal, NRLM was launched as Anandadhara by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Smt. Mamata Bandyopadhyay on 17th May 2012. Inspired by her, and committed to the vision of poverty eradication, West Bengal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (WBSRLM) started its journey in the state as a registered society under the Society Registration Act XXVI of 1961. The state mission aims at creating efficient and effective institutional platforms of the rural poor, enabling them to enhance their household income through sustainable livelihood extensions and improved access to financial and other public services and entitlements.

FAQs

Who can apply?

SHG or any member of SHG or a family member (husband / unmarried son / unmarried daughter/ unmarried brother/ unmarried sister / Parents) of a SHG member. The SHG needs to be registered with Government (rural livelihood mission).

What is the difference between a soft loan and a grant?

Soft loan is an interest free  loan , need to return only principal amount. Grant amount need not to be returned.

What is the challenge fund?

Challenge Fund is a reward in the form of soft loan / Grant.

I am an individual entrepreneur and I work with SHGs: can I apply?

Yes you can apply provided your close relative is part of a SHG that has a SHG code.

My mother is part of a SHG linked with Khadi gramodyog and I run a rural enterprise: can I apply?

If your mother's SHG has a SHG code you can apply.

Can I apply in my own language?

No. you can apply in English. However, you can answer questions in your own language and record them on the application portal.

What is IIMCIP?

How will business incubation help my enterprise?

You will get Mentoring from Expert, Business Training , Finance  & Market linkages.

Our enterprise make Saree as final product but we do everything from thread making to weaving to dying: can we apply?

Yes.

How will I know if my / our enterprise is selected?

You will be intimated by IIMCIP team on phone / email.

Will I get any certificate from IIMCIP if my enterprise is selected for the project?

No you will not get any certificate from IIMCIP.

For selected large and group enterprises how many people will be trained by IIMCIP as part of incubation?

The key members of the team will be trained by IIMCIP.
